Gear Machinist

Job DetailsKey ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate gear-cutting equipment such as hobbing, shaping, grinding, and CNC machines.Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.Manufacture precision gears including spur, helical, bevel, and worm gears.Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.Perform machine adjustments to maintain product quality and dimensional accuracy.Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary corrections.Conduct routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in good working condition.Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.Record production and quality-control information.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred.Experience operating CNC and manual machining equipment.Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints.Strong knowledge of gear manufacturing processes and machining techniques.Familiarity with precision measuring tools.Good math, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.Attention to detail and commitment to quality.10+ years of experience in CNC gear cutting.SkillsCNC programming and machine setupBlueprint readingPrecision measurementQuality inspectionTroubleshooting and maintenanceTime management and teamworkKnowledge of gear geometry and tolerancesPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Lift and move materials as required.Work safely around machinery, noise, and manufacturing equipment.Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
