Locums - Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Gastroenterologist Availability
  • Start Date: October 5, 2026
  • Coverage Duration: 12 months
  • FTE Need: Strong preference for one consistent provider
  • Alternative: Two providers alternating weeks may be considered
  • Clinic Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • 24-Hour Rate: Includes 8 hours on site
Licensure & Credentialing
  • Medicare Enrollment: Required
  • Medicaid Enrollment: Required
  • Credentialing: Must be completed prior to start
Clinical Setting
  • Specialty: Gastroenterology
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Support Staff: APP support provided
  • Patient Population: Medically complex / high-acuity patients
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 12-14 procedures per day
Call
  • Call Structure: Shared with another provider
  • Call Location: Offsite
  • Emergency Consultation: Response within 30 minutes
  • Routine Consultation: Response within 12 hours
  • Expected Call-Ins: Approximately 1-2 times per week
  • Most Common Call Reason: Active GI bleed
Required Procedures
  • EGD / Upper Endoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • ERCP: Required - mid-level / moderate complexity
  • EUS: Not Required
  • EMR: Not Required
Additional Procedural Experience
  • Esophageal, duodenal, or luminal stent placement
  • Argon plasma coagulation
  • Esophageal, gastric, small bowel, and colonic biopsies
  • Colonoscopy with or without polypectomy
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic EGD
  • Enteral alimentation
  • Esophageal dilation, including balloon, bougie, or Savary with guidewire
  • Foreign body removal via EGD
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy
  • GI motility studies and 24-hour pH monitoring
  • Non-variceal upper and lower GI hemostasis
  • Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)
  • ERCP
Candidate Fit
  • Strong procedural skills in General GI
  • ERCP experience required
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills highly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with a medically complex patient population
