Benefis Health System, a premier health system in Montana, is seeking an Inpatient Gastroenterologist to join an established GI hospitalist practice in Great Falls. This role offers the opportunity to provide excellent care to residents of Great Falls and north central Montana, working in a state-of-the-art endoscopy space. The position is available in a full-time or part-time capacity, with outstanding benefits and compensation.

Practice Info

  • Established GI hospitalist practice in Great Falls, Montana
  • Serves 80,000 Great Falls residents and 275,000 residents across north central Montana
  • Team includes 7 gastroenterologists (FTE and per diem), 1 inpatient PA-C, and 3 outpatient advanced practice providers
  • Brand new 22,000 SF Endoscopy space in the hospital with Olympus equipment, 8 endoscopy suites, and 24 pre op/post op bays
  • Experienced and helpful staff of RNs and techs, dedicated anesthesia services, and a dedicated GI Hospitalist suite
  • Average of 6 cases per day (range of about 2-9) and an average of 6-7 ERCP cases per stretch

Responsibilities

  • Perform ERCP, Barryx, Spyglass, colonoscopies, EGDs, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and PEG tube placements and EUS
  • Manage all patients within the endoscopy unit with occasional procedures in the OR (based on BMI)
  • Complete urgent/emergent procedures during a dedicated M-F block with assigned anesthesia
  • Complete weekend cases during a dedicated Sunday block from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm, working with endoscopy staff
  • Cover gastroenterology call as a GI Hospitalist
  • Perform rounds on Saturday
  • Be in-house approximately 7 am - 3 pm on weekdays

Shift & Schedule

  • Full time = 146 shifts annually or part time = 73 shifts annually (7-14 shifts each stretch based on preference)
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate lifestyle desire
  • Dedicated M-F block to complete urgent/emergent procedures with assigned anesthesia
  • Dedicated Sunday block from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm, working with endoscopy staff to complete weekend cases
  • GI hospitalist is typically in house from approximately 7 am - 3 pm on weekdays
  • Does rounds on Saturday and procedures on Sunday in a dedicated block from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Takes 24 hour call, but not typically called after hours and rarely come in late night or overnight for emergencies

  • ERCP is required
