Sanford Health, one of the largest and fastest-growing not-for-profit health systems in the US, is seeking a Gastroenterologist to join their team. This role involves providing comprehensive gastroenterology care within a 583-bed tertiary/trauma hospital setting. The position offers a unique 14 days on/14 days off schedule, with opportunities for additional compensation through endoscopy procedures during off-weeks.

Practice Info

  • 583-bed tertiary/trauma hospital
  • Recently upgraded endoscopes, Olympus 190 series Spyglass
  • Esophageal and anorectal motility lab
  • Transplant trained pancreato-biliary surgeons on-site for collaboration
  • Bariatric Surgery Program
  • Bi-week GI malignancy case conference with oncology, radiation oncology, IR/radiology, surgery and GI

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examinations
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting)
  • Provide consultative services
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and provide nonsurgical care to adolescent and adult patients presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the stomach, intestines, and related structures, such as the esophagus, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas
  • Perform biopsies

Shift & Schedule

Requirements

  • H-1B and J-1 visa sponsorship available
  • Advanced GI Fellowship required
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Active involvement in 50 gastroenterology cases in the last 12 months
  • Successful completion of an Internal Medicine residency program
  • Completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
  • If not board certified at the time of application but fellowship training completed within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training
