Valley Health System (VHS), in affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), is seeking a visionary Founding Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director. This role involves leading the development, implementation, and accreditation of a new Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. The Director will be responsible for creating a curriculum aligned with ACGME requirements and ensuring high-quality training for fellows.

  • Valley Medical Group is a physician-led and professionally-managed group practice with over 300 physicians and nearly 200 advanced practice providers in 60 adult and pediatric specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee the new Gastroenterology Fellowship Program
  • Lead the ACGME accreditation process and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Develop a rigorous curriculum that fosters clinical excellence, scholarly activity, and professional growth
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate fellows and faculty
  • Collaborate with institutional leadership and external partners to advance program goals
  • Promote a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care

Compensation

  • Competitive compensation model with generous wRVU productivity incentives (uncapped potential)
  • Compensation range from $507,000 to $530,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree and current board certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or subspecialty qualifications that are acceptable to the Review Committee
  • Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment
  • Administrative experience and at least three years of participation as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency or Gastroenterology fellowship
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Gastroenterologist
  • Ongoing clinical activity and ongoing academic achievements in Gastroenterology, including but not limited to publications, the development of educational programs, or the conduct of research
  • Must have or be eligible for State of New Jersey medical licensure, DEA and CDS
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal communication skills
