Gastroenterologist

Jackson and Coker is seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens opportunity in Texas, starting October 15 and continuing ongoing. This role involves call-only coverage due to a provider vacancy and increased endoscopy demand, with temporary privileges available for a quick start. The position requires managing inpatient consults and performing various GI lab procedures.

Practice Info

• Current team structure includes GI physicians and advanced practice providers
• Clinic support includes NPs and PA-C staff performing pre- and post-procedure workups
• Hospitalist service manages primary medical care until GI consultation is completed
• No resident or teaching supervision required
• Trauma Level I facility
• PEDs Level II facility

Responsibilities

• Evaluate inpatient consults from the prior night
• Perform additional GI lab procedures as needed following consultations
• Provide coverage for inpatient consults and procedures
• Perform scheduled colonoscopies Monday through Friday
• Admissions required
• Rounding required

Requirements

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology
• Fellowship
• Active Texas license
• ABLS
• ACLS
• ATLS
• BLS
• Procedures/Skills Required: Upper GI endoscopy and biopsy, Foreign body removal, Fulguration of bleeders, Injection of varices, ERCP (Diagnostic and Therapeutic) + with PEG, Esophageal dilatation and manometry, Small bowel biopsy, Lower GI endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy (Flexible and rigid), Colonoscopy (biopsy + polypectomy), Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), Liver biopsy, Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management
