Gastroenterologist

Compensation: $450,000–$550,000 + $30,000 Bonus

Position Overview

A growing healthcare organization in Hudson County, NJ is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join its established medical group.

This is a full-scope gastroenterology opportunity combining outpatient practice, inpatient coverage, and endoscopic procedures . Physicians typically begin their day in the endoscopy unit before transitioning to the outpatient office setting.

The Gastroenterologist will work alongside GI fellows and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients with a broad range of gastrointestinal and hepatology conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary conditions.
• Diagnose and manage conditions including IBD, IBS, GERD, liver disease, motility disorders, GI malignancies, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
• Perform inpatient and outpatient endoscopic procedures, including:
• EGD
• Polypectomy
• PEG placement
• Hemostatic interventions
• Provide outpatient gastroenterology consultations and follow-up care.
• Participate in inpatient consultations and urgent/emergent GI care.
• Perform advanced procedures such as ERCP and EUS when appropriately fellowship-trained and credentialed.
• Collaborate with GI fellows and other physicians across the healthcare system.
• Coordinate transitions of care between outpatient practices, endoscopy units, emergency departments, and inpatient services.
• Partner with colorectal surgery, general surgery, oncology, radiology, nutrition, and other specialties in the management of complex cases.
• Participate in quality-assurance initiatives, peer review, and other clinical improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the organization's EHR.

Schedule & Call

• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• Typical day begins in the endoscopy unit and transitions to outpatient practice
• Approximately 10–12 call assignments per month , shared with GI fellows
• Approximately 1:5 weekend call , with fellow support
• Combination of outpatient, inpatient, and procedural responsibilities

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
• Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey
• Appropriate credentials to perform standard diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
• Strong clinical, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Advanced endoscopy training is welcomed but not required

Compensation

• Bonus: $30,000
