Atrius Health, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a Gastroenterologist to join their innovative multi-specialty group practice. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients requiring specialized care within a team-based model. The successful candidate will contribute to a connected system of care across 28 practice locations in eastern Massachusetts, focusing on high-quality, evidence-based medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients requiring specialized care
  • Perform physical assessments on patients with specialized conditions
  • Develop and implement a plan of care for these patients, as well as prescribe medications, exercises and/or other treatments
  • Collaborate with the clinical and administrative teams in the management of patient care
  • Maintain continuity of care through the exchange of information with outside health and social agencies
  • Serve as a liaison between primary care providers and specialists such as general surgeons, urologists, orthopedic and ENT surgeons
  • Consult with primary care providers on issues related to patient care
  • Teach and counsel individuals and groups with regard to specific health care needs
  • Serve as an educator in areas of specialization
  • Participate in the development of health education programs

Compensation

  • Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $386,500 to $757,500
  • Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus
  • Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical School or School of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Board Certified or Board Certified Eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Current active DEA licensure/prescriptive authority or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations
  • Current active Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty
