GI TechnicianThe GI technician performs a variety of duties in the GI Unit related to maintaining a safe, efficient and supportive environment for patients undergoing procedures in the Gastroenterology Unit with a focus on the Patient Family Centered Care model in an environment that exemplifies best practice. He/she will assist nurses and physicians in the care of these patients. The GI technician will procure and maintain equipment and supplies in collaboration with the Clinical Leader as well as perform secretarial duties as needed Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Maintains a clean, safe and organized environment for the cleaning and disinfection of scopesCleans and disinfects endoscopes using established guidelinesGreets patient and families in a professional mannerMaintains and organizes supplies/ordering as neededStocks and sets up rooms for the next dayAssists nursing staff to provide support to ensure efficient and confidential flow of information.Communicates patient information to licensed nurse in a timely mannerEnters accurate demographic information in to computer in procedure roomsAnswers telephone and screens calls in a courteous manner. Relays accurate messages to appropriate personnel.File and retrieve patient records, collate charts and deliver mail to mailroom.Assists nurses and physicians to facilitate efficient room turnover.Escorts patients to changing rooms. Assists patient with gowning and locking of valuables if necessary.
