FY27: Speech Pathologist, Diamond ES, 1.0 FTE

Summary

Primary responsibilities include screening, evaluating, and providing appropriate services to students with communication disorders (articulation, voice, language, fluency) that affect educational performance. This also includes consultation with teachers and parents, and participation in Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings. Physical demands: as required. Special requirements: required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Qualifications

• Masters or equivalent in speech‑language pathology.
• Coursework and demonstrated knowledge and expertise in communication disorders, including evaluation and therapeutic techniques.
• Experience collaborating with professionals in related disciplines.
• Skill working with parents (parent counseling, parent training, etc.).
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
• Ability to screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders in students age birth to 21.
• Ability to develop and implement goals and objectives for each student and select appropriate therapeutic materials for individuals and small groups.
• Strong communication skills to implement consultative programs through teachers and parents.
• Good writing and organizational skills to produce concise clinical reports, develop IEPs and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and maintain longitudinal records.
• Certification/License: Speech pathologists hired after Oct 1 2007 must hold the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene license or be eligible for a provisional license; those hired prior must hold MSDE certification or DHMH license. CCC desirable; CFY eligible.
