Director, Fund Accounting · New York, NY · On-site · Full-time

Our client, a multi-billion-dollar alternative asset manager in New York, is hiring a Director of Fund Accounting to own NAV, investor reporting, and the audit across its private funds.

Responsibilities

- Own the final NAV for open- and closed-end private funds, from P&L reconciliation through investor allocations, and resolve breaks with the outside administrator and internal teams

- Check management fee, carry, and incentive fee calculations and payments against each fund's governing documents

- Prepare quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP financial statements and coordinate the year-end audit with the external auditors

- Sign off on capital call and distribution allocations, investor notices, and administrator-prepared capital account statements

- Produce monthly performance attribution for senior management, along with fund forecasts and NAV estimates

- Lead and develop the fund accounting team

- Build and tighten procedures, workflows, controls, and templates, and take on special projects tied to firm initiatives

Requirements

- 10+ years of private fund accounting, currently at the manager or assistant controller level

- CPA and a strong academic record

- Credit fund experience a big plus, private equity backgrounds with complex fund structures also considered

- Strong technical accounting and U.S. GAAP knowledge

Why this role

Coming from a private equity or credit fund seat, you'll find this one covers more of the platform. You'd work across several credit strategies and both open- and closed-end structures, with regular time in front of the executive team. You'd also help build new workstreams as legacy ones wind down. The setting is entrepreneurial and collaborative, it takes grit, and senior finance leadership mentors the team.

Owning the NAV, fee and carry review, and audited GAAP reporting across that many products puts you in front of more fund types than a single-strategy seat allows. All in all, you get time close to the decisions now, and the breadth to keep growing from there.

Fully on-site in New York. Hours stay out of late nights and weekends, with longer days during busy periods.
