Fund Accountant — Fully Remote

Private investment firm · Remote (DC Metro Area) · $60,000–$80,000 base + Bonus + Deal Co-Investment

Most fund accounting jobs at this level give you one slice of the close and keep you there.

This isn’t that.

You’d sit at the center of how a private investment firm actually runs — the general ledger, the wires, the distributions, and the investor records behind a portfolio of roughly 25 companies. And unusually for a seat at this level, you’d have the ability to invest your own capital alongside the firm in its deals.

The details

  • Fully remote, but must be in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. They may open an office in the future requiring 1-2 days/week in office.
  • $60,000–$80,000 base, plus bonus
  • Co-investment — the opportunity to put your own money into the firm’s deals

What you’d own

  • Day-to-day general ledger and fund accounting
  • Wires, capital calls and investor distributions — a significant part of the role
  • Investor onboarding, subscription documents and capital account records
  • Audit-ready documentation across deals, closings and quarterly statements
  • Regulatory support including Form D tracking and Blue Sky filings
  • Making all of the above faster and cleaner — automation and process cleanup are genuinely welcomed here

What they’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Finance or Economics with strong accounting coursework also works)
  • Early-career, with fund accounting, fund administration, venture capital, private equity or public accounting experience especially relevant
  • Strong Excel and genuinely exceptional attention to detail — you’ll be handling wires and legal documents
  • Comfortable talking directly with investors by email, phone and video
  • Hungry. This is built for someone who wants to grow into more, not someone looking to do the same task for a decade.

Why people take this job

Fund administration teaches you one client’s slice. This teaches you the whole machine — how capital gets called, how money moves, how deals close, and how investors actually get paid. That’s a skill set that travels.
