LHH is seeking a Fund Accountant for a growing financial services organization located in Chicago’s West Loop. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with fund accounting experience or general accounting experience within the financial services industry.
The Fund Accountant will support day-to-day fund accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and investment-related accounting activities. Candidates with direct fund accounting experience are highly preferred; however, candidates with strong general ledger and financial reporting experience from an asset management, investment management, private equity, banking, or other financial services environment will also be considered.

- Hourly Rate: $35–$41/hour
- Direct Hire Salary: $75,000–$80,000
Fund Accountant Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of accounting records for investment funds and related entities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger activity
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Perform cash, bank, investment, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with calculating and reviewing fund-level activity and net asset values (NAV), as applicable
- Track investment activity, including purchases, sales, income, expenses, and other fund transactions
- Assist with capital activity, including contributions and distributions, as applicable
- Support the preparation of fund financial statements, investor reporting, and supporting schedules
- Review and reconcile fund expenses, management fees, and other accounting activity
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and reconciling items
- Maintain supporting documentation for fund and investment transactions
- Assist with audit requests and provide schedules and supporting documentation
- Partner with internal teams and external service providers to resolve accounting and reporting issues
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Fund accounting experience highly preferred
- Candidates without direct fund accounting experience will be considered if they have general accounting experience within financial services
- Experience within asset management, investment management, private equity, banking, or a similar financial services environment is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Exposure to investment accounting, fund reporting, NAV calculations, or capital activity is a plus
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex financial data
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines
- Strong communication and organizational skills
