Civil Litigation Attorney
A fast-growing plaintiff-side employment law firm founded by a former big law attorney is seeking a civil litigation attorney to join the team. This is a fully remote position with no strict billable hour requirements and a high level of autonomy. You'll manage a meaningful caseload, move quickly, without micro-management. The firm combines the strategic rigor of a big law background with the autonomy and agility of a boutique practice. They focus exclusively on FEHA matters and are expanding rapidly due to high demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of 25 to 30 active employment matters from intake through settlement
- Take and defend depositions regularly
- Draft motions, lead aggressive discovery, and drive toward favorable settlements
- Operate independently while contributing to a collaborative, remote-first team
- Attend court hearings or depositions as needed
Case Types You'll Handle
- Wrongful termination
- Disability, pregnancy, gender, racial, age, and religious discrimination
- Sexual harassment
- Retaliation claims
- Wage and hour violations (unpaid overtime, missed breaks)
Qualifications You meet one of the following criteria:
FEHA Plaintiff-Side Attorneys
- At least 1 year of plaintiff-side FEHA litigation experience, including depositions, discovery, and law and motion practice
OR FEHA Defense-Side Attorneys
- At least 1 year of FEHA litigation experience representing employers or insurers
- Must have taken a minimum of 5 depositions
- Minimum of 2 years of total law practice experience
- Must be able to apply defense-side experience effectively in a plaintiff-side context
OR
- General Civil Litigators (Plaintiff or Defense-Side)
- At least 3 years of litigation experience in civil matters e.g. (personal injury, business litigation, or real estate litigation)
- Must have hands-on experience with depositions, discovery, and law and motion
- FEHA experience NOT required
Additional Requirements:
- Must be licensed and in good standing with the California Bar
- Assertive, strategic, and confident working with opposing counsel
