Northwest Eye Physicians is seeking a medically focused Optometrist (OD) to join our established hybrid MD/OD practice. This is a full‑time position in a privately owned practice that has proudly served the Arlington Heights community for over 50 years .
Our practice is unique—one of very few in the state with an on‑site surgical suite— and is built on a collaborative team of physicians and staff dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
Position Overview
The Optometrist will play a key role in comprehensive eye care, surgical co‑management, and patient education within our medical optometry setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye exams using optometric equipment and diagnostic interpretation
- Prescribe glasses and contact lenses
- Initiate surgical consults by educating patients on available procedures and referring to the appropriate MD
- Assist with postoperative care and follow‑up for surgical patients
- Provide excellent customer service and patient‑centered care
- Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule with other physicians (no hospital call required)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of optometry experience
- Experience in a hybrid MD/OD practice or surgical setting preferred
- Medical residency preferred
- Strong interest in growing a patient base through networking and positive patient experiences
