In addition, the faculty member has various responsibilities related to professional development, curriculum development, student advising and success, as well as activities that support the College and allied health division operational success.Minimum Qualifications - Master's degree in nursingCurrent Michigan Registered Nursing licensure or eligibility for Michigan licensureTwo years' full-time successful work experience in registered nursingAbility to assist nursing students in the clinic with the delivery of patient careClinical competency in specialty areaBasic life support certificationCommitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student successCommitment to the community college mission and philosophy, and to practical and associate degree nursingAbility to provide inclusive and accessible teaching and learning approaches for diverse student populationsDemonstrated skill in effective written and oral communicationsDemonstrated literacy in information technology and computer useWillingness to learn and implement new teaching strategies as needed to enhance student successCommitment to value, respect, and provide an equitable learning experience in an inclusive, welcoming environment; standing against discrimination or harassment to educate all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran or military status, or other protected statusPreferred Qualifications - Clinical competence in several areas of nursing, such as medical-surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, community health, home nursing, or geriatricsPost-secondary teaching experience, especially teaching practical and associate degree nursing studentsSuccessful experience working with at-risk studentsFamiliarity with active and collaborative learning strategies, teaching of critical thinking, and essential skills of literacyWillingness to learn and implement new teaching strategies related to active learningWillingness and ability to travel to placement sitesFlexibility and creativity in relation to the changing role of nurses todayWillingness to travel to attend meetingsMonths Per Year - Fall and Winter semesters (August - May) with the opportunity to teach summer courses.Hours Worked Per Week - A full-time faculty workload of 15 contact hours represents a standard full-time commitment.
