About the Company
Join a venture-backed software company building modern infrastructure for satellite operations. Its platform allows commercial and government customers to command, monitor and operate different spacecraft and constellations through one scalable software environment.
The company was founded by experienced engineers and satellite operators who wanted to replace fragmented, highly customized ground systems with modern, reusable software.
- Approximately 70 employees with an engineering-led culture
- Meaningful equity and direct product influence
- Software supporting real commercial and government missions
- Small teams with significant technical ownership
- Opportunity to build foundational products rather than maintain legacy systems
- Collaborative environment spanning software, aerospace and mission operations
The Role
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to develop scalable, cloud-based software supporting satellite operations using Python, AWS, and modern web technologies. You will work across backend and frontend systems, building mission-specific solutions for U.S. government programs while contributing to the core software platform. Previous aerospace experience is not required, but strong software engineering skills and an interest in mission-critical technology are essential.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and cloud-based applications supporting satellite operations
- Build mission-specific software for U.S. government customers while improving the core software platform
- Design, integrate, and troubleshoot applications using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Fargate, EKS, and CloudWatch
- Work across frontend and backend systems using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and modern web technologies
- Improve application scalability, security, reliability, performance, and cloud cost efficiency
- Develop and maintain containerized and serverless applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, satellite operators, and customers to deliver new features
- Investigate production issues, optimize system performance, and improve software quality and maintainability
- Automate development, testing, and deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of experience in backend, full-stack, DevOps, or related software engineering roles
- Strong Python programming skills and experience developing production backend applications
- Experience with APIs, distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases, and modern software architectures
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript and frontend/backend integration
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and Git-based development skills
- Ability to work independently, deliver reliable software, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- U.S. Person status required; visa sponsorship is not available
- Must have active U.S. Secret Clearance
Nice to Have
- Experience with React, TypeScript, and frameworks such as Next.js, Refine, or Vite
- AWS and Kubernetes experience, including EKS, ECS, CloudWatch, S3, EC2, and RDS
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions
- Background in satellite operations, aerospace, defense, or government software systems
Eligibility
Candidates must have an active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to maintain it throughout employment and work from the office under the required hybrid schedule.
Why Consider It?
Work directly with spacecraft systems, solve complex integration challenges, and help shape software used in real satellite missions.
Outstanding benefits include: unlimited PTO (minimum 15 days encouraged), 100% employee health insurance coverage, 4% 401(k) matching, quarterly wellness benefits, paid holidays, and equity.
