Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr

Job Summary:

The FSQA Manager is responsible for leading the facility’s food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA, etc.), company standards, and customer expectations. This position oversees all quality systems and food safety plans, manages audits and inspections, drives continuous improvement, and ensures products meet specifications from raw material to finished goods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety and quality assurance programs, including HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, and allergen controls.
• Oversee regulatory, third-party, and customer audits; ensure timely follow-up on non-conformances and continuous compliance.
• Manage and develop the FSQA team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with operations, R&D, and procurement to maintain product quality, resolve issues, and drive improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations, including FDA/USDA and GFSI standards (e.g., SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000).
• Maintain and analyze quality data (e.g., CCP/PC monitoring, product testing, microbiological results) to identify trends and corrective actions.
• Coordinate product holds, traceability exercises, and recalls if needed.
• Stay current on industry trends, food safety technologies, and regulatory changes; provide guidance and training to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Animal Science, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in food safety/quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry.
• 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity preferred.

Certifications (Preferred or Required):

• SQF Practitioner or experience with other GFSI schemes (Required)
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and quality assurance methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and QA systems; experience with ERP systems a plus.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and lead in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and continuous improvement focus.
