Responsibilities

• Management: Spend the majority of the time using independent judgment to make employment-related and business decisions or recommend such decisions, including but not limited to product and department strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, and resolving partner-related matters.
• Manage people, staffing, and training for the area of focus.
• Review and analyze financial and performance reports, identify and follow up on opportunities and issues.
• Manage the Operational Review Team (ORT) related audits and findings.
• Conduct detailed store and/or department walks.
• Maintain work instructions for the area of focus.
• Monitor and report on inventory estimates and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) accounting.
• Utilize an ownership mentality in your department and throughout the store.
• Create weekly schedules to meet business needs.
• Operate in a cross‑functional environment.
• Ensure proper order and inventory levels within your department.
• Order product and perform quality control.
• Participate in the store leadership team to ensure coordination, integration and alignment of total store plans.
• Support leadership and department teams with a total store mindset.
• Manage operations in the area of focus, monitoring craftsmanship, shrink, safety, and quality assurance.
• Create actionable plans and follow up on “What Ifs.”
• Serve as the Brand Promise Champion.
• Focus on partner/customer relationships, collaboration, communication, and education.
• Model and promote superior customer service across store departments.
• Identify and develop future talent.
• Manage the center store inventory workflow, including receiving and shelf edge.
• Assist in weekly execution of the center store merchandiser planner.
• Organize and plan using daily forecast in relation to inventory workflow.
• Lead the inventory flow team to maximize productivity and efficiencies.
• Manage overall front‑end operations, ensuring efficient throughput and proper operating procedures.
• Manage overall meat market operations, ensuring food safety compliance and partner safety requirements.
• Manage overall produce and bakery operations, planning and executing merchandising programs to drive sales.
• Ensure proper store close, evening replenishment, and appropriate store conditions.
• Account for proper level, organization, and purchasing of all supplies for the total store.
• Be accountable for all safety, sanitation, and pest control programs.
• Manage the Store Recovery Team.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of H‑E‑B’s or JVSS’s Management Training Program.
• Operational / retail management experience.
• Leadership experience in a complex environment with multiple direct reports.
• Thorough understanding of retail accounting.
• Experience in ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control.
• Leadership skills (people leadership, ownership mentality, business knowledge, strategic planner, adaptable).
• Interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts.

Training Required

• Successful completion of JVSS or H‑E‑B School of Retail Management (SORM).

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements include lifting moderate to heavy loads, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, squatting, and standing and walking for long periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made. The work environment may involve moving mechanical parts and equipment in wet, humid, dry, cold, and hot conditions. Noise is usually moderate. The environment is fast‑paced with multiple tasks and shifting priorities, requiring attentive customer service.
