Freight Bill Coordinator

Freight Billing SpecialistThe individual will be responsible with working with several internal and external departments, (Sales, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, Transportation Planners, Finance and Carrier Representatives) in order to determine freight bill accuracy, resolve any discrepancies and ensure that our carriers are paid in a timely basis. The individual will participate in the data collection to develop the departmental metrics and KPIs. The incumbent will interface with the Transportation Managers on action plan to reduce freight bill audits and discrepancies.Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:Audit freight billsResolve variances prior to carrier billing termsMonitor and process freight payments through US bank/Power TrackResearch reasons for cost variances on invoicing versus stated charges on AS400Update fuel surcharge in AS400Freight rate data entryManually input freight rating sales orders that don't automatically rateReview carrier-aging reportsUpdate orders with carrier informationProvide customer shipping reports for select customersFreight Claims – filing, processing & follow-upDevelop freight rating purchase ordersComplete Short Pay forms, where applicable, to be included with payment to carrier stating the reasons for the altered chargesMaintain invoicing integrity through audit and collaborate with contract carriers to improve and streamline all invoicing activitiesProvide transportation manager with detailed information for corrective action and follow-up with the carrier representativeProvide Excel report showing freight bill audit reductionsProvide load and LTL rate quotesResolve SAP case disputesEnsure that orders have been fulfilled before invoicingPerform other related duties as assignedEducation, Skills and Abilities:High School education, GED or equivalent experience in transportation3+ years' experience classifying commodities and developing freight rate computations for LTL and truckload shipmentsGood proactive interpersonal, written, verbal communication and team skillsStrong computer skills in Excel, AS/400, SAP and personal computer platformSpreadsheet, math, and word-processing skills requiredMust be detail orientated and exhibit proactive problem-solving skills
