Role Overview


Partner with the Executive Director and Board during a pivotal period of growth and transformation to build long-term philanthropic capacity while preserving community programs.


Key Responsibilities



  • Build and manage a major donor portfolio

  • Coach and engage the Board in relationship-based fundraising

  • Partner with the Executive Director and Deputy Director on major donor cultivation and solicitation visits

  • Develop a corporate sponsorship and partnership strategy

  • Create individualized cultivation plans for high-potential donors

  • Strengthen donor stewardship, moves management, and fundraising systems

  • Help position the organization to secure $250,000–$500,000 in major gifts and multi-year philanthropic commitments (while recognizing that ethical fundraising professionals do not guarantee results)


Ideal Qualifications



  • Experience with women's leadership and racial + gender equity organizations

  • Knowledge of Alameda County, Berkeley, and/or Oakland government departments and legislators

  • Background with racial equity and social justice nonprofits

  • Major gifts experience ($10,000–$100,000+)

  • Corporate partnerships and sponsorships experience

  • Board fundraising coaching and engagement

  • Familiarity with Bay Area philanthropy and family foundations

  • Experience building sustainable, multi-year fundraising strategies
