Role Overview
Partner with the Executive Director and Board during a pivotal period of growth and transformation to build long-term philanthropic capacity while preserving community programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a major donor portfolio
- Coach and engage the Board in relationship-based fundraising
- Partner with the Executive Director and Deputy Director on major donor cultivation and solicitation visits
- Develop a corporate sponsorship and partnership strategy
- Create individualized cultivation plans for high-potential donors
- Strengthen donor stewardship, moves management, and fundraising systems
- Help position the organization to secure $250,000–$500,000 in major gifts and multi-year philanthropic commitments (while recognizing that ethical fundraising professionals do not guarantee results)
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience with women's leadership and racial + gender equity organizations
- Knowledge of Alameda County, Berkeley, and/or Oakland government departments and legislators
- Background with racial equity and social justice nonprofits
- Major gifts experience ($10,000–$100,000+)
- Corporate partnerships and sponsorships experience
- Board fundraising coaching and engagement
- Familiarity with Bay Area philanthropy and family foundations
- Experience building sustainable, multi-year fundraising strategies
