gfCas12a (CRISPR) Licensing·Remote, US-based·Equity + Uncapped Revenue Share
G+FLAS Life Sciences, Inc.
— a Seoul National University spin-out and owner of the proprietary gfCas12a (mgCas12a) genome-editing platform — is opening a principal-level commercial seat to drive the global out-licensing and partnering of our CRISPR technology across cell & gene therapy, diagnostics and bioproduction.
The upside
This is a principal's seat. You earn equity in the company and an uncapped share of the licensing revenue you generate — we only win when you win . Business expenses are covered at cost.
What you'll be selling — and why it closes
You won't be pushing a science project. You'll be licensing a de-risked, defensible platform :
- Our own CRISPR nuclease — granted patents in the US, Korea & Japan ; a genuine freedom-to-operate advantage over the incumbent Cas9/Cas12a estates.
- Differentiated technology: exonuclease-fused editing for deeper knockout, and a one-pot, 30-minute point-of-care Detector (e.g., antibiotic-resistance screening).
- A Seoul National University spin-out already partnered with Bayer, Kolon and Kolmar — credibility that opens doors.
How you'll work
- Run your own book. Fully remote, independent — no office, no timesheets, no micromanagement.
- Direct line to the founder-CEO (an SNU professor): decisions in days, not quarters.
- Own the pipeline end-to-end: outreach → technical pitch → term sheets → close; represent us at J.P. Morgan, BIO, ASGCT, Advanced Therapies and beyond.
Who thrives here
- A proven closer in cell & gene therapy licensing/BD — ideally with CRISPR / genome-editing deals signed.
- Demonstrated deal-making and fundraising — you have sourced and closed partnerships and licenses.
- Strong network across pharma/biotech, platform companies and investors; US-based , operating globally.
- Entrepreneurial and performance-driven, equity-minded — you'd rather own your upside than draw a fixed base.
Make your case
- Review our gfCas12a Technology & Licensing Brief (attached).
- Send your CV plus a concise BD Plan — how you would turn gfCas12a into revenue (strategy, target segments/accounts, first moves).
- If your plan is sharp, we'll talk. Shortlisted candidates are invited to interview .
A TTACHMENT
gfCas12a (mgCas12a) TECHNOLOGY & LICENSING BRIEF
engineered for next-generation cell & gene therapy
— and rapid molecular diagnostics.
IN ONE LINE
We discovered our OWN CRISPR nuclease from the human gut
microbiome and engineered it into a high-performance,
IP-clean platform — available now for global out-licensing
and co-development in cell & gene therapy, diagnostics,
and bioproduction.
The CRISPR field is dominated by a few foundational nucleases
(SpCas9, AsCas12a, LbCas12a) whose IP is tightly held — creating
freedom-to-operate (FTO) friction and licensing cost for every
new therapeutic. Meanwhile, multiplex and knock-in editing —
the backbone of allogeneic cell therapy — demand a nuclease
that is efficient, precise, and safe across several loci at once.
gfCas12a answers both: a genuinely novel effector that GFLAS
owns outright, built for the editing problems that matter
most in the clinic.
WHAT gfCas12a IS
A novel Cas12a-family nuclease discovered from the human gut
metagenome — only ~37% amino-acid identity to existing Cas12a
enzymes. Distinct enough to stand on its own composition-of-
matter patents, while keeping what makes Cas12a attractive
for therapy:
Origin ....... human gut commensal → low immunogenicity potential
PAM .......... T-rich (5'-TTTV) → targets AT-rich regions Cas9 can’t
Cut geometry . 5' STAGGERED (sticky-end) → precise HDR knock-in, low chromosomal translocation
Specificity .. low off-target, with a dedicated assay program ENGINEERED FOR PERFORMANCE
POTENCY (6xNLS variant)
A codon-optimized variant with six nuclear-localization signals
(plus K169R/D529R) delivers ~2x the indel efficiency of AsCpf1
(and ~4x the original enzyme). Protein yield is ~3.6x higher
than FnCas12a — lowering manufacturing cost of goods.
The 5' staggered cut favors templated knock-in and reduces
chromosomal translocations during multiplex editing — a key
safety concern for allogeneic CAR-T/NK.
CRISPR PLUS — A BUILT-IN EXONUCLEASE EDGE
A 5'→3' exonuclease fused IN-FRAME to the nuclease. Because
gfCas12a leaves a 5' overhang, the fused exonuclease resects
precisely from that overhang — a synergy blunt-cutting editors
cannot match. Result: substantially deeper, more irreversible
knockout AND enhanced Detector sensitivity — a distinct edge
in both therapeutic editing and diagnostics.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (THE MOAT)
Owned or co-owned with Seoul National University:
(composition of matter — novel nuclease)
6xNLS variant ...... KR (high-efficiency variant)
Split crRNA ........ KR (low-cost multiplex guides)
CRISPR PLUS ........ KR (chimeric editing system)
FTO ADVANTAGE: a Korea-origin, independently discovered enzyme
with granted claims in the US, Korea and Japan lets licensee s
build on a DISTINCT IP foundation — reducing dependence on the
incumbent Cas9/Cas12a estates. (FTO is program- and territory-
specific and should be confirmed per program.)
APPLICATIONS & MARKETS
Allogeneic cell therapy — multiplex KO (TRAC, B2M…) +
(e.g., PCSK9 knockout for familial hypercholesterolemia)
Next-gen / senolytic — target-specific KO/KI for engineered
Research models — genome-edited & humanized animal models
Bioproduction — host-cell glyco-engineering for biologics
ONGOING DEVELOPMENT — WE GROW THE PLATFORM AROUND YOUR NEEDS
gfCas12a is a living platform. Beyond the core enzyme, GFLAS
continuously develops enabling capabilities and provides hands-on
technical support so partners reach their goals. Current
development areas — extended and customized per program — include:
CHOE-Seq (in development) — a proprietary in-cell off-target
profiling method built specifically for Cas12a staggered DSBs,
where conventional GUIDE-seq does not apply.
CREXO (in development) — mgCas12a-based targeted knock-in for
precise insertion of large cassettes (e.g., CAR constructs,
immune-cloaking payloads).
CRISPR PLUS — exonuclease-fused editors for deeper knockout
and higher-sensitivity detection (Section 3).
Program-specific engineering — custom guide/PAM optimization,
and tailored assay design.
OUR COMMITMENT: we don’t just license an enzyme — we stand
behind it. As your needs evolve, our scientific team keeps
advancing the toolkit (off-target validation, knock-in,
detection, delivery) to make your program succeed.
POINT-OF-CARE DETECTION (COLLATERAL CLEAVAGE)
gfCas12a is not only an editor. On recognizing its target, it
performs collateral (trans) cleavage of single-stranded DNA
reporters — which we harness into a rapid molecular Detector.
ONE-POT, 30-MINUTE FIELD TEST: combined with isothermal
amplification in a single tube, a gfCas12a Detector confirms the
presence/absence of a specific gene — e.g., an antibiotic-
resistance gene (blaKPC, blaNDM) — directly at the point of care
in under 30 minutes, with a simple fluorescent or lateral-flow
(pregnancy-test-style) readout and NO thermal cycler.
Because the enzyme is GFLAS-owned, the Detector rests on a
differentiated composition-of-matter foundation vs. incumbent
Cas12a diagnostics. Targets: antimicrobial-resistance (AMR)
testing, companion diagnostics. Open to co-development and
THE LICENSING OPPORTUNITY
GFLAS seeks global licensees and co-development partners —
therapeutic developers, platform companies, tool/reagent
providers, CROs and diagnostics firms. Flexible structures:
