Forklift Operator
The Forklift Operator safely moves, loads, unloads, and organizes freight within a modern facility, ensuring accurate handling, labeling, and documentation of all shipments. This role supports efficient freight flow by operating material handling equipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and keeping the dock area clean and safe.
Responsibilities
- Load inbound and outbound freight to and from vehicles and containers using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Unload inbound and outbound containers and sort freight according to size, type, and destination.
- Read, decode, and decipher freight coding to expedite freight movement and support the tracing process.
- Reconcile driver pick-up and delivery manifests to ensure shipments are accurately documented.
- Label freight accurately, including weighing and dimensionalizing shipments as required.
- Record damaged shipments and misrouted freight on applicable reports and follow established procedures.
- Perform regular cleanup activities in the work area to maintain a safe, organized, and clean dock environment.
- Handle materials and inventory in a careful and efficient manner to minimize damage and ensure proper placement.
- Follow all safety guidelines and operational procedures while operating forklifts and other equipment.
- Perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, as required by the role.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
- Experience with material handling in a warehouse or dock environment.
- Ability to perform basic inventory-related tasks, including counting and organizing freight.
- Capability to read, decode, and interpret freight labels and coding accurately.
- Attention to detail when labeling, weighing, and dimensionalizing freight.
- Ability to reconcile pick-up and delivery manifests with actual freight received or shipped.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work area through regular housekeeping.
- Ability to accurately identify and document damaged or misrouted freight.
- Physical capability to perform manual material handling tasks as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Forklift Operator.
- Experience as an Equipment Operator in a warehouse, distribution, or dock setting.
- Experience with material count and basic inventory control processes.
- Familiarity with modern warehouse operations and freight handling procedures.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean, modern facility with an active dock and warehouse setting where forklifts and other material handling equipment are regularly used to move freight. Multiple shift options are available, including Sun–Wed and Wed–Sat schedules with 1st shift from 5:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., 3rd shift from 5:00 p.m. to 5 a.m. Must be okay working 12 hour shifts. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with clear processes for freight handling, documentation, and housekeeping.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Independence, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
