Objective: We are seeking a reliable and experienced Forklift Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving materials, supplies, and finished products throughout the facility. You will play a critical role in ensuring our production lines are consistently supplied and that outgoing orders are loaded accurately and on time.
Core Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Safely operate a forklift to move materials, components, and finished goods to and from storage areas, loading docks, and production lines.
- Loading & Unloading: Carefully load and unload delivery trucks, flatbeds, and shipping containers, ensuring products are not damaged during transit.
- Inventory Management: Scan barcodes, update inventory logs, and assist with cycle counts to maintain accurate records of material locations and stock levels.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine pre-shift and post-shift inspections of the forklift, check fluid levels, recharge batteries or swap propane tanks, and immediately report any mechanical issues.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and facility speed limits to maintain a secure working environment for all staff.
- Housekeeping: Keep the warehouse and driving aisles clean, organized, and free of debris, pallets, or shrink-wrap.
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Certification: Valid OSHA-compliant Forklift Operator Certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of proven experience operating a forklift (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, frequently mount and dismount the forklift, and occasionally lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills and experience working with RF scanners or warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently or collaborate with a team.
- Environment: Fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse setting with exposure to fluctuating temperatures, industrial noise, and moving machinery.
- Schedule: Full-time position. May require occasional overtime, weekend work, or rotating shifts based on production demands.
- Safety Gear: Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including steel-toed boots, high-visibility vests, and safety glasses.
