Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of the forklift operator is to ensure the proper delivery, shipment, and customer service required to maintain and continue business expectations from a premier egg products company. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reducemproduct and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist Production Personnel in confirming material numbers and quantities on pallets. – 30%

• Identify placement/removal location of materials in the cooler, freezer, and dock locations - 5%

• Perform the placement/removal process with the use of forklift and power jacks. – 30%

• Load/unload trailers according to instructions issued by the Warehouse Lead or Warehouse Manager. – 25%

• Maintain the sanitation processes and GMP’s to achieve a clean and safe workplace.

• Work closely with Warehouse Supervisor, Distribution Lead, and Inventory Clerk to ensure distribution policies and procedures are followed.

• Have the ability to assist in other areas as needed.

• Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

• Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Basic knowledge of warehouse procedures.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write basic communications.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.

  • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and work with units of measure such as weight, volume, and distance.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.

  • Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification.

  • Valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification.

  • Experience operating a forklift or power jack in a warehouse environment.

  • Ability to work in cold environments and in areas with limited space.

  • Basic reading, verbal communication, and arithmetic skills.

  • Familiarity with warehouse procedures to maintain a safe and productive work environment.

  • Ability to learn and follow sanitation processes, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety regulations.

  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Ability to work indoors in cold conditions for the majority of the shift.

  • Basic computer skills, including data entry into systems such as SAP.

  • Light typing skills and ability to handle basic phone communication.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
