Forklift Operator
This role involves operating forklifts and related material handling equipment to support receiving, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping activities in a large, clean, and highly organized warehouse environment. The forklift operator updates inventory systems, ensures accurate order fulfillment, and maintains a safe, efficient, and team-oriented workplace.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming parts from vendors and internal locations, verify accuracy against documentation, update the computer system, and place items in the correct warehouse locations.
- Pick part orders from both low and high storage locations using an RF scanner and load orders onto production carts accurately and efficiently.
- Support finished goods and parts maintenance by participating in cycle counting programs, bin and space consolidation initiatives, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of inventory and warehouse areas.
- Become cross-trained within the department and assist in other departments as needed to support overall operations and workflow.
- Identify potential or recurring errors made within the department or by other teams, verify the accuracy of your own work and that of other associates, and help ensure customer expectations are consistently met.
- Adhere to the company handbook and all departmental rules and regulations, including strict compliance with safety procedures and respectful conduct toward all colleagues.
- Maintain warehouse equipment according to the established schedule, perform basic inspections, and promptly report any equipment issues to supervision.
- Keep a neat, organized, and safe work area, ensuring aisles, storage locations, and workstations remain free from hazards.
- Accept responsibility for actions and work performed, demonstrate a consistently positive attitude, and contribute to a strong team-focused environment.
- Participate in company-sponsored activities such as suggestion programs, quality training, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform packing, material handling, loading, and related warehouse tasks as needed to support shipping and receiving operations.
- Carry out other duties as assigned to support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse and production operations.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience operating sit-down or stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse setting.
- Experience with packing, loading, and general material handling activities.
- Ability to use RF scanners for picking, inventory tracking, and order fulfillment.
- Basic computer skills to update inventory records and work within warehouse management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when verifying incoming parts and fulfilling orders.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain a positive, cooperative attitude.
- Commitment to following safety procedures, company policies, and departmental guidelines.
- Willingness to accept responsibility for work performed and to support continuous improvement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in a high-volume warehouse or production environment.
- Experience with cycle counting and inventory control processes.
- Familiarity with bin and space consolidation programs.
- Interest in cross-training for additional skills such as soldering, quality control, or chain operation, with on-site training and certification provided.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with associates across multiple departments.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large, well-lit, and temperature-controlled warehouse that is part of a broader manufacturing and production campus. The facility is extremely clean, organized, and highly automated, with many of the organization's own products in use to support efficient operations. The site includes separate manufacturing and production buildings, with approximately 150 employees in the production facility and around 100 working directly in production. Employees work around advanced material handling equipment, including forklifts and RF scanners, in a structured environment that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and orderliness. This is a Permanent position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.90/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
