Food Services Systems Computer Repair Technician

The Food Services Systems Computer Repair Technician is responsible for managing the tasks associated with the installation and maintenance of hardware and software for the Food Services Department and acts as the liaison between contracted software vendors and the Food Services, Technology and SIS Departments. The Food Services Systems Computer Repair Technician is also cross-trained to perform the basic job duties of the Food Services Application Manager.

Reports To: Executive Director of Food Services

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Maintains DC lists.
  • Manages website for food services.
  • Tracks site health inspections.
  • Responds to cafeteria and central office based software and hardware issues in a timely
  • Makes site visits to schools with a personal vehicle or works remotely to resolve reported
  • Communicates effectively with the JPS Technology Department in seeking additional help in problem
  • Installs hardware and software in cafeteria and Food Services
  • Repairs and reconditions department hardware if
  • Recommends the purchase of hardware and ancillary items as
  • Oversees the software rollover process prior to the beginning of each school
  • Tracks and troubleshoots daily communications between the Food Services and SIS software
  • Acts as liaison between Food Services software vendors and other JPS
  • Conducts or assists in training for Food Services
  • Is "on call" for tasks that require completion after standard work
  • Maintains a log of all software issues and their resolution as reported by cafeteria and central office
  • Is cross-trained in the basic responsibilities of the Food Services Application Manager and able to perform those tasks as
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Food

Skills and Qualifications:

We seek detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess:

  • Graduate of an accredited technical school with coursework concentration in computer applications or related field or a minimum of 5 years of documented experience with computer
  • Documented experience with point of service and back of the house Food Services software
  • Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture creator that can inspire and
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and
  • Collaborative management style, with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and problem
  • High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined
  • Competence in using a personal computer including the district's software
  • Competence in using and demonstrating the use of food services software to food services
  • Willingness to learn and work with new computer
  • High School Diploma

  • Food Service management

Physical Involvement:

Continuous movement is required most of the day; standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting 30 pounds is sometimes required. Must have ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites. Must possess mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work areas. Must possess a valid driver's license. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meetings, both inside and outside the parish.
