Food service operation worker

Job Summary

The Food Service Operations Worker is responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and maintaining food service operations in a healthcare setting. This position prepares meals in large quantities while following proper sanitation, safety, and dietary procedures to help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.

This is an active, hands-on position requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare and cook a variety of foods according to regular and modified diet requirements.
* Portion and serve meals on trays and through cafeteria and serving lines.
* Operate commercial kitchen equipment, including cooking equipment, dish machines, and other mechanical equipment.
* Safely use kitchen utensils and equipment that may have sharp edges or operate at high temperatures.
* Lift up to 40 lbs. independently and up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
* Set up and maintain food service and serving areas.
* Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, fixtures, and other food service areas.
* Sweep, mop, remove trash, wash dishes, and maintain overall kitchen cleanliness.
* Push and transport food carts throughout the facility.
* Operate vehicles when required and assist as a safety spotter when vehicles are backing.
* Operate a cash register as needed.
* Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
* Complete assigned duties accurately and within established timeframes.

Physical Requirements

* Ability to stand and walk for approximately 80% of the workday.
* Ability to bend, stoop, push carts, and perform repetitive motions.
* Ability to work safely on wet or potentially slippery floors.
* Slip-resistant shoes are required.
* Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment and safely operate kitchen equipment.

Schedule

* 40-hour work week
* Department operates 7 days a week, approximately 5:00 AM 7:00 PM
* Shift: 5:00 AM 3:00 PM
* Every other weekend required
* Must be available for rotating weekday shifts
* Schedule runs Sunday through Saturday
