Saint James Libations is looking for a thoughtful, reliable Prep Cook to join our small, tight-knit kitchen team.

Saint James Libations is a wine bar in Brooklyn, born from a desire to create a true sense of belonging through wine, culture, and creative connection. We are a queer, Black woman-owned wine bar and cultural gathering space located in Bushwick. Designed to feel like a modern-day wine salon meets a diasporic living room, the space is moody, warm, and intimate, perfect for slow pours, deep conversation, and curated cultural experiences.

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who takes pride in their work, moves with intention, and understands the importance of consistency in even the smallest details. Our menu is focused and concise, which means every component matters. You will be responsible for daily prep production, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and supporting service with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires someone who is self-motivated and able to work independently while staying aligned with the needs of the team.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining pars, organizing and executing your daily prep list, and communicating closely with the Lead Line Cook regarding ordering needs. You will also receive deliveries, ensuring all products are properly checked in, stored, and logged. Maintaining accurate inventory, adjusting pars as needed, and upholding strong systems around organization and product flow will be an essential part of your day-to-day responsibilities.

You are expected to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety at all times, with a clear respect for shared spaces and systems.

The ideal candidate is proactive, communicative, and comfortable managing their time without constant supervision. You move with care, stay organized, and bring a grounded, collaborative energy to the kitchen. You understand how to work quietly and efficiently while still being deeply connected to the flow of the team.

Candidates must have at least one year of prior kitchen or prep cook experience, along with a valid Food Handler’s Certification. Availability must be Wednesday through Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, you must be able to lift 50lbs and carry deliveries up and down stairs, and work comfortably in a small, fast-paced kitchen environment.

Compensation is $24–$26 per hour, based on experience and alignment with the role. There is opportunity to grow with the program as the kitchen and menu continue to evolve.
