We have an outstanding Contract position for a Flight Simulator Hardware Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Orlando, FL surrounding area.
**US Citizenship is required.**
The hired engineer will be a Hardware Engineer on a development team that delivers an FAA Level D Full Flight Simulator for our customer.
Responsibilities :
- Complete hardware design and development activities for power and control systems, motion platform integration, visual display systems, avionics interfaces, and ancillary equipment.
- Manage end-to-end integration of the new simulator hardware with the existing building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical distribution, grounding, and fire and smoke monitoring systems.
- Lead other Hardware Engineers who synchronize engineering, procurement, production planning, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure design is completed as scheduled.
- Develop innovative solutions to a range of complex problems that are consistent with the program objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in developing flight simulation hardware solutions.
- Active development of new mechanical design engineering principles and full demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and related disciplines.
- Issuing formal design checking approvals or non-conformance reports through the PLM tool.
- Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles.
- Developing and generating HW architectural layouts for system and lower-level interfaces between systems and subsystems.
- Deriving Hardware and sub-tier requirements from customer requirements.
- Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional teams through major technical reviews throughout the acquisition lifecycle (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
- Experience applying Hardware Engineering processes in an Agile environment.
- Experience with Windchill, Creo, and/or Catia, Zuken, and Cameo.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and demonstrated ability to perform complex system-level tolerance analysis.
- Knowledge of generating hardware architecture, high-level interconnects, and deriving requirements from customer and system-level flowdowns.
- Prior experience in the development, integration, and deployment of flight training systems.
- Leveraged Agile tenets in the execution of the development of software-intensive systems, inclusive of driving development of Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware, and Test Engineering work products.
- Experience adapting hardware designs to existing climate control systems, ensuring temperature/humidity stability for avionics and motion platforms.
- Experience interfacing with the facility's existing fire detection and suppression infrastructure.
- Product design experience in the context of modular open systems architectures (e.g., SOA).
- Experience with Rotary and/or Fixed Wing Aircraft.
- Experience with full motion simulators.
