Job Title: Fleet Mechanic Job Description

This role is a first-shift fleet mechanic position in a union environment, focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of fleet vehicles and related equipment. You will work as part of a small, dedicated team in a shop area within a warehouse facility.

Responsibilities

  Perform routine and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

  Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems with diesel and other vehicle systems.

  Carry out repairs on engines, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, and other mechanical components as needed.

  Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

  Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance and repair tasks efficiently and accurately.

  Document work performed, including parts used and services completed, in maintenance records or work orders.

  Collaborate with a team of mechanics and other warehouse personnel to prioritize and complete repair and maintenance requests.

  Follow safety procedures and shop guidelines to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about vehicle status, repair timelines, and any issues that may affect operations.

Work Environment

The role is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse, with the fleet mechanic shop located in a fenced-off section of the facility.
