AI Hardware | Platform Firmware | AI Accelerators

I'm working with a well-funded AI hardware startup building next-generation AI accelerators for large-scale AI workloads. They're looking for a Firmware Engineer to own the low-level platform firmware that powers and secures their compute systems—from boot through runtime—working at the intersection of silicon, hardware, and software.

This is a highly hands-on role where you'll help define the firmware stack for cutting-edge AI hardware, taking ownership across secure boot, power management, platform telemetry, and board bring-up.

You’ll work on:

  • Developing platform firmware including Boot ROM, bootloaders, embedded controllers/BMC, and device firmware
  • Implementing secure boot, hardware root of trust, code signing, authenticated firmware updates, anti-rollback protection, and secure debug
  • Building power management firmware covering power sequencing, PMIC control, DVFS, and thermal protection
  • Developing platform monitoring, telemetry, RAS, health monitoring, and observability interfaces
  • Supporting board bring-up, post-silicon validation, JTAG debug, and low-level hardware debugging
  • Working closely with silicon, hardware, architecture, and software teams on firmware interfaces, security, and HW/SW co-design
  • Leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve firmware development workflows

Requirements:

  • 5+ years developing platform or system firmware
  • Strong C and assembly programming for embedded systems, bare-metal, or RTOS environments on ARM (or similar architectures)
  • Experience with bootloaders, embedded controllers/BMC, or device firmware
  • Hands-on implementation of secure boot, hardware root of trust, code signing, authenticated firmware updates, and anti-rollback protection
  • Experience with power sequencing, PMICs, voltage regulators, DVFS, and power/thermal management
  • Experience with telemetry, RAS, platform monitoring, JTAG, board bring-up, and post-silicon debug
  • Comfortable working at the hardware/software boundary using datasheets, schematics, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and lab debugging

Compensation:

$200,000–$350,000 Base + Equity + Comprehensive Benefits
