Embedded Hardware & Firmware Test Engineer
Role Overview
Develop and execute test solutions for embedded electronic products. This engineer will work across firmware, electronics hardware, and system validation activities, with a strong emphasis on hands‑on hardware testing, test fixture development, and troubleshooting embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute tests for embedded hardware and firmware to verify functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Design and build test fixtures, validation hardware, and laboratory test setups.
- Perform hardware bring‑up, PCBA debugging, and root cause analysis of system‑level issues.
- Create test automation solutions using tools such as Python, LabVIEW, or TestStand.
- Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and systems engineers throughout product development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience with embedded systems, electronics validation, firmware testing, or hardware development.
- Experience designing test fixtures, validation hardware, or custom test equipment.
- Strong electronics troubleshooting skills, including schematic review, PCBA debugging, and use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment.
- Experience with automated testing using Python, LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HIL testing, embedded communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART, USB).
- Experience building or supporting engineering test labs.
- Experience with power electronics, battery‑powered products, motors, or other embedded electro‑mechanical systems.
