Firmware EngineerThis is an intermediate level systems engineering position in the area of electronic systems. Individual may be assigned tasks in various areas of systems support and development based on department requirements and project schedules. A complete understanding of board layout principles and overall hardware disciplines is required, along with knowledge of transmission line and wiring characteristics, and packaging and manufacturing principles. The individual should have a complete understanding of Engineering Change Request (ECR/ECN) processes and formal release of parts and drawings. This person would need the ability to lead a multi-disciplined hardware/software team in a project from concept, through scheduling, design, and pilot phases and manufacturing. Assigned tasks will be generally defined with the intention of allowing the individual to further develop engineering skills in the area of electronic systems development, systems integration, and product integration. May be assigned project leadership duties.QualificationsRequired Skills:4 years minimum experience in the development of firmware applications; ARM architecture-based processors preferred. (K61 chip)C++ and object-oriented concepts experienceExperience in writing technical documents, specifically, test plans, functional requirements, and use cases.Familiarity with the Agile Methodology of firmware/software development.

Experience is preferred.Multi Integrated Development Environment from Green Hills SoftwareIBM's Rational Rhapsody Development ToolsPython scripting language familiarity preferred, but not required.A BSEE or BSCS or equivalent degree with 2 to 5 years' experience, a BSCS or equivalent degree with some exposure to electronic systems design and 2 to 5 years' experience, or a BSET or equivalent degree with 2 to 5 years' experience as an Electronic Systems Engineer IIExperience with C, C++, or other structured and object-oriented programming languages and general software and systems development practicesReal-time operating system environment experience as well as experience with computer system hardware and architectureExperience with software system component integrationGeneration and evaluation of functional and design specificationsGeneration of project schedules pertaining to assigned projectDesign and implementation of electronic systemsTesting of electronic systemsGeneration of system test plansSubmittal of systems for quality assurance testing, and subsequent follow-upSupport of software systems as necessaryAdministrative duties as necessary including reporting hours worked, submission of status and expense reports, and relatedActing as a resource to other electronic system engineersAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyMust be able to work with diverse groupsMust be able to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills, which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date
