Job DescriptionJohnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized Professional Staffing and Recruiting firm that is currently looking for Fire Alarm Designers. This is a contract to hire opportunity with a global leader in engineering and consulting out in Phoenix, Arizona.
Responsibilities:
Lead or support the design and layout of automatic fire sprinkler systems for a variety of facility types in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and project requirements
Generate fire suppression specifications for water-based fire protection systems
Perform or review hydraulic calculations, material take-offs, and system sizing, including fire pumps and controllers
Review, evaluate, and prepare sprinkler, fire pump, and/or special suppression system shop drawing submittal packages
Conduct field surveys, inspections, and regular site walks to verify installation quality, fire safety, and code compliance
Support testing, commissioning, system acceptance, and emergent site needs, including witnessing tests and providing code interpretations
Requirements:
Three (3) or more years of experience in fire protection system design or consulting, with emphasis on automatic sprinkler systems and fire pump design
Proficiency with industry-standard design and calculation tools such as AutoCAD, REVIT, HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, or similar software
Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 13, 14, 20, and/or 25.
NICET Water-Based Systems Layout Certification preferred; NICET Level II or higher strongly preferred
Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes, life safety standards, and local jurisdictional requirements
Pay: $40-60/hr+
