The Role
The Fire Life Safety Director (FSD) is a critical on-site safety role at the Return Policy™ Broadway Hotel. The FSD is responsible for the life safety of all guests, staff, and visitors in the building, ensuring full compliance with New York City Fire Department (FDNY) regulations, the NYC Fire Code, and all applicable building safety standards. This is a standalone, full-time position requiring a valid FDNY Fire Safety Director Certificate of Fitness. The FSD operates with a high degree of independence and is expected to act decisively in emergency situations while maintaining a calm, professional presence at all times.
What You'll Do
- Hold active FDNY Fire Safety Director (FSD) or Fire Life Safety Director (FLSD) certifications required at time of hire, no exceptions
- Serve as designated Fire Safety Director on all assigned shifts per NYC Local Law and FDNY requirements
- Oversee the fire command station and maintain all required logs
- Lead emergency response with calm authority when needed
- Hold a current First Aid certification (we can provide this if needed)
What You Bring
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness - Fire Safety Director (S-95). Must be valid and current
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness - Fire Safety & EAP Director for Assembly Occupancies (S-56), if applicable
- CPR / First Aid Certification - current
- Additional FDNY Certificates of Fitness considered an asset (F-89, W-96, G-60)
