Director Of Fine ArtsHeritage Christian School is seeking a Director of Fine Arts to provide visionary leadership, curricular direction, and operational oversight for a comprehensive Fine Arts program.
The role involves supervising, supporting, and developing Fine Arts faculty to ensure a cohesive, high-quality program that promotes artistic excellence, supports student growth, and aligns with academic and accrediting standards, the school's mission, and a biblical worldview. In addition to departmental leadership responsibilities, the position will also teach Fine Arts classes as assigned.Qualifying characteristics include being a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values, and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. A Master's degree in Fine Arts, Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related discipline is preferred. Minimum of three to five years of classroom teaching experience required. Prior experience in Fine Arts program leadership, faculty supervision, department coordination, or educational leadership is preferred. A valid teaching license from the State of Indiana (or eligible for licensure). The Christian Philosophy of Education (CPoE) project certification is required but may be obtained within three years of the date of hire.Essential skills and abilities include exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills; strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment; strong attention to detail, initiative, and commitment to excellence; ability to effectively supervise, support, mentor, and collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and parents; professional, approachable, and relationship-oriented with strong customer service and communication skills; creative, flexible, adaptable, and solutions-oriented while maintaining consistency and appropriate accountability; proficiency with instructional technology, communication platforms, and standard office software applications; ability to coordinate and manage performances, productions, and large-scale events; knowledge of Fine Arts curriculum development and instructional best practices; and ability to manage budgets and departmental resources responsibly.Major responsibilities include collaborating with the High School Principal to establish and implement the vision, goals, and strategic direction for the Fine Arts Department; providing leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for all Fine Arts programs, performances, productions, and departmental activities; supervising, supporting, mentoring, and evaluating Fine Arts faculty to promote instructional excellence, professional growth, and alignment with departmental and school expectations; overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Fine Arts curriculum to ensure alignment with academic standards, program objectives, and a biblical worldview; overseeing and coordinating the Fine Arts calendar, including performances, exhibitions, rehearsals, competitions, tours, and special events; coordinating and overseeing performing ensemble tours, trips, and related student travel activities; overseeing Fine Arts facilities, equipment, instruments, costumes, and production resources to ensure proper maintenance, organization, safety, and stewardship; attending, or ensuring Fine Arts staff representation at, K–12 Fine Arts events held on the HCS campus; assisting in the development and management of the departmental budget in collaboration with the High School Principal; supporting student recruitment, retention, and enrollment initiatives related to Fine Arts programs and courses; establishing and maintaining appropriate behavioral expectations and standards for students participating in Fine Arts programs and activities; actively supporting and participating in the Friends of Fine Arts (FOFA) parent organization and related engagement initiatives; collaborating with school leadership on special programs, events, and initiatives involving Fine Arts participation; serving on school committees and leadership teams as assigned; representing and advocating for the Fine Arts Department at academic, social, community, and public events; fostering positive relationships with students, families, faculty, alumni, and community partners to promote and support the Fine Arts program; teaching Fine Arts classes as assigned and providing instructional support or classroom coverage when needed.The above description covers the most significant duties performed, but does not restrict the administration's right to assign or reassign other reasonable duties, responsibilities, or expectations to this job at any time, with or without advance notice. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or move materials, equipment, instruments, props, music stands, staging elements, or supplies weighing up to 25–50 pounds.Ability to work extended or flexible hours periodically, including evenings and weekends, for performances, productions, rehearsals, competitions, tours, and special events.Work is performed primarily in a school environment, including classrooms, rehearsal rooms, offices, auditoriums, performance venues, and other campus facilities. Regular interaction with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members is required.
The role may involve exposure to moderate noise levels associated with music instruction, rehearsals, performances, productions, assemblies, and school events.Evening and weekend work is periodically required for concerts, performances, productions, competitions, tours, meetings, and special events. Local and occasional overnight travel may be required for performances, competitions, conferences, and student activities.Work schedule follows the academic calendar.
