Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial ServicesAssociate provides support to the day-to-day fiscal operations ofthe Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. Responsibilities includevarious fiscal and administrative tasks in areas of procurement,accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget, and travel. TheFinancial Services Associate is responsible for ensuring compliancewith university, state, and federal regulations, maintaininginternal controls, and serves as a point of contact to provideguidance for faculty and staff regarding financial procedures andprocesses. They will also coordinate and work with universitydepartments such as the Controller’s Office, Bursar’s Office, andProcurement department.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in accounting, business, finance or relatedfield or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with current office computer softwaresuch as Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience to support fiscal processes viaaccounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping and/or relatedexperience.
- Familiarity with financial databases and systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively ina team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training andexperience.
- Working knowledge of Virginia Tech policies and procedures.
- Experience with HokieMart, Banner and emburse.
- Professional office experience in an academic, medical orbusiness environment.
- Familiarity with federal and state regulatory and complianceconcerns and applicability to universities.
