Financial Services Accountant IIThe Financial Services Accountant 2 performs complex accounting activities relating to internal control systems, maintenance of general ledger, advanced technical accounting research and policy & procedure development, maintenance of reporting & automation systems, and preparation of financial statements and related footnotes. Confidently communicates technical accounting and control requirements clearly to others. Builds relationships with employed and outsourced staff to complete tasks as assigned.Essential Functions Of The RoleWorks collaboratively in an outsourced environment.Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to effectively apply guidance to complex accounting transactions.Prepares advanced monthly Enterprise reporting including Board reporting and senior leadership reporting.Prepares and coordinates quarterly public bond disclosures including preparation and review of advanced disclosures in compliance with continuing disclosure agreements, as well as facilitating Legal, Treasury, and CFO review.Prepares and coordinates Enterprise audited financial statements and supporting schedules.Reviews 24+ audited financial statements including ensuring disclosures are up to date based on most recent accounting pronouncements, ensuring disclosures are standardized where applicable, and finalization of reports that are distributed to the Enterprise Audit and Compliance Committee and other boards.Performs advanced accounting research and supports due diligence and mergers/acquisitions.Assists in resolving complex accounting issues or internal control problems by working with various departments, as well as recommending business process changes.Elevates issues and communicates relevant, advanced financial information to other departments, including the Chief Accounting Officer and External Reporting leadership.Supports the accounting department in complex accounting transactions, including developing accounting positions and papers.Prepares required financial reporting schedules in all public bond offerings.Key Success FactorsMaster's Degree in Accounting or 150 semester hours, inclusive of 30 semester hours of upper-level accounting courses and 24 upper-level related business hours from a board-recognized college or university.1.5 years of public accounting firm experience.Advanced and thorough knowledge of GAAP principles.Ability to apply GAAP to complex accounting transactions.Strong knowledge of modern technology capabilities.Ability to perform advanced accounting research.Ability to work on complex team projects.Strong communication skills.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to work well with others.Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
