JCW is currently partnered with a leading property and casualty insurer with a national footprint looking for an Accounting Manager to join its finance team. This is a high-visibility role overseeing key parts of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, with direct exposure to senior finance leadership. It’s a great fit for someone with insurance accounting experience who’s ready to lead a team and take ownership of statutory and GAAP reporting. This role is on-site in the firm's Manhattan office.

Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
- Prepare and review statutory and GAAP financial statements, including the Annual and Quarterly Statements and supporting schedules
- Partner with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and treasury teams to ensure accurate reporting
- Support external audits and regulatory exams, serving as a key point of contact for auditors
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, including SOX/MAR compliance
- Supervise, develop, and mentor a team of staff and senior accountants
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve close efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in P&C insurance (public accounting insurance audit background a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of statutory accounting principles and U.S. GAAP
- Experience with reinsurance accounting and loss reserve reporting
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Oracle, SAP, Workday, or similar ERP systems
- Clear communicator who can work comfortably with senior stakeholders
