Financial Reporting Accountant

Position SummaryThe Financial Reporting Accountant will work as part of the Financial Reporting team responsible for ensuring that all financial statements, reports and disclosures are complete, accurate and timely for SEC reporting, and for internal reporting to the Executive team. This role reports to the Financial Reporting Supervisor in our Downtown Houston, TX office. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Salary and level commensurate with experience.Essential Job FunctionsAssist with the preparation of financial statements and related schedules for the monthly financial packageCompile monthly and quarterly variance analysis and explain significant variances in financial statement accounts, utilizing input from the respective account owners in the Accounting departmentAssist with compilation of 10-K and 10-Q drafts, updating disclosures for the current reporting period and completing financial statement disclosure checklistsCoordinate with other departments to obtain information for 10-K/Q disclosuresEnsures accuracy and consistency across all SEC filings (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q, etc), including earnings releases and investor presentations and maintain organized tie-out supporting documentationRecord monthly journal entries, including preparation of related supporting schedules and account reconciliations, as neededReconcile intercompany receivable and payable accounts, and ensure intercompany balances are properly eliminated on a consolidated basisReview XBRL tagging of financial statements and footnotes for Forms 10-K and 10-QCoordinate with independent auditors in order to facilitate a successful audit and provide documentation requests, as necessaryMonitor, assess and document impact of new GAAP Accounting Standards Updates and SEC guidelinesMaintain SOX controlsThis job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the position. Incumbents will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and duties outside of their normal responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or similar disciplineMinimum 1 year of experienceBig 4 or similar public accounting experienceExposure to financial reporting and SEC filingsExposure to complex accounting subjects (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, business combinations)Excel proficientProactive and deadline drivenStrong written and verbal communication skillsFamiliarity with accounting research toolsAbility to work in fast-paced environmentPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
