Financial Planner (CFP) | Columbia, SC
Competitive, generous base salary well into six figures
An independent, fee-only Registered Investment Adviser in Columbia, SC, managing approximately $1.5 billion in assets, is seeking a Financial Planner (CFP) to join its growing team. The firm serves a diverse client base that includes individuals, families, high-net-worth clients, business owners, trusts, corporations, and retirement plans. Operating under a fiduciary model, the firm takes a customized, long-term approach to wealth management and investing.
This is a client-facing wealth advisory role designed for someone who wants to work as a well-rounded advisor rather than solely a financial planning specialist. The Financial Planner will work directly with clients at various stages of wealth, including young professionals, high-net-worth individuals, and business owners, using comprehensive financial planning to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities to provide additional wealth management solutions.
Advisors spend the majority of their time meeting with and advising clients, with a smaller portion dedicated to developing financial plans. The Financial Planner will work closely with the firm's Principals and Director of Financial Planning and will have access to experienced senior advisors for mentorship and training in areas where additional expertise may be needed.
Responsibilities :
Meet with and advise clients independently across financial planning, retirement planning, investment management, charitable giving, education funding, estate planning, and insurance analysis
Conduct ongoing client reviews covering risk assessment, investment performance, distributions (including RMDs and QCDs), cash needs, insurance and annuities, estate documents, beneficiary designations, outside assets, and life changes affecting the client's financial strategy
Identify client needs and proactively introduce clients to the firm's broader services
Develop and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to the growth of the firm's client base
Manage and grow a book of business, either through an existing client base or by assisting senior advisors in developing new client relationships
Collaborate with the firm's Principals and internal specialists to deliver comprehensive, tailored solutions
Support overall firm growth through proactive client service, relationship development, and innovative thinking
Requirements :
CFP designation required, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining the designation within 1-2 years
3+ years of experience in financial services, focusing on financial and retirement planning
FINRA Series 65 required
Outgoing, personable, and client-facing, with the ability to advise clients independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly and effectively
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
Collaborative mindset and adaptability in a growth-oriented environment
Strong commitment to integrity, client service, quality, and teamwork
Experience with MoneyGuidePro or RightCapital a plus
