A growing, multi-entity organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting operations and serve as a key member of the leadership team. This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role overseeing the entire accounting function while helping scale a dynamic, fast-paced business.
This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys balancing strategic leadership with operational execution and has deep expertise in ASC 842 lease accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, financial reporting, and month-end close.
- Manage and mentor an accounting team while fostering accountability, development, and operational excellence.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for ASC 842 lease accounting, including lease administration, right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, disclosures, and ongoing compliance.
- Lead the annual external audit process and coordinate with outside auditors.
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, growth projects, and process improvements.
- Support system enhancements, implementations, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Assist with acquisition activity, technical accounting matters, and integration initiatives as needed.
What We're Looking For
- 10-15+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Previous experience as a Controller with responsibility for the entire accounting department.
- Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams and developing staff.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting in a multi-location or complex operating environment.
- Experience leading annual audits and working directly with external auditors.
- Background working within companies exceeding $100M in revenue, preferably in environments where leadership maintained broad accounting oversight rather than a highly specialized focus.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and technical accounting.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-changing, high-growth environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- MBA is a plus.
