About IFE NDT

IFE NDT provides specialty inspection and iron recertification services to the oil and gas industry across the Midcon, Permian, and Colorado basins. Our work includes teardown, inspection, pressure testing, rebuild, documentation, and recertification of high-pressure flowline equipment.

Our D.R.I.V.E. values guide how we work: Dependability, Resilience, Integrity, Vision, and Ethics.

The role

We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead financial operations for IFE NDT and affiliated entities. This person will own financial reporting, month-end close, cash visibility, AR, AP oversight, internal controls, and development of the accounting team.

Success requires sound judgment, consistent follow-through, and the ability to explain what the numbers mean. You will identify problems early, recommend solutions, and help ownership and District Managers make informed decisions.

This role includes direct responsibility for billing and collections until standardized processes, trained coverage, and an approved transition are in place. You will work closely with ownership and our CPA partners while remaining accountable for internal execution.

What you will own

Financial reporting and month-end close

  • Lead a documented close process with clear deadlines, reconciliations, review steps, and accountability.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting across multiple entities in QuickBooks Online.
  • Review coding, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules; resolve discrepancies with the appropriate staff or CPA partner.
  • Present finalized district and consolidated results to ownership, including budget comparisons, significant variances, expense trends, and recommended actions.

Cash management, budgeting, and forecasting

  • Maintain current visibility into cash, receivables, payment obligations, and upcoming funding needs.
  • Prepare and maintain a rolling cash forecast; compare actual results with forecasts and explain differences.
  • Develop budgets and reforecasts with ownership and CPA support.
  • Identify financial risks, challenge assumptions, and recommend actions before issues become urgent.

Accounts receivable

  • Perform and oversee billing, aging reviews, collections, cash application, and customer account resolution.
  • Verify pricing, work orders, purchase orders, and service documentation before billing.
  • Establish consistent collection follow-up, dispute resolution, and escalation practices.
  • Keep client billing instructions current and build a process that can be trained, delegated, and monitored.

Accounts payable and purchasing controls

  • Lead and develop AP staff through clear expectations, regular coaching, and review of actual work.
  • Maintain vendor records and controls over vendor setup, changes, invoice processing, and payment preparation.
  • Verify authorization, pricing, applicable contracts or purchase orders, receipt of goods or services, coding, and supporting documentation before recommending payment.
  • Maintain clear separation between requesting, approving, processing, releasing payments, and reconciling.
  • Review recurring expenses, purchasing practices, and vendor pricing for errors and savings opportunities.

Procedures, systems, and financial controls

  • Build and maintain the AP/AR framework: policies, procedures, responsibilities, approval requirements, and checklists.
  • Develop detailed work instructions after the framework is established; train staff and verify that procedures are followed.
  • Clarify financial handoffs across Finance, Operations, and Administration.
  • Improve iM3 and QuickBooks Online workflows, including billing, job costing, coding, and reconciliation.
  • Protect company assets by verifying required approvals and documentation and following unresolved items through completion.
  • Coordinate with CPA partners on financial review, audits, tax filings, and compliance responsibilities.

Leadership and operational support

  • Lead regular financial discussions with District Managers on budgets, labor, overtime, spending, margins, and trends.
  • Translate financial information into practical recommendations and clear next steps.
  • Come prepared to meetings and communicate with professionalism and confidence.
  • Bring ownership a clear assessment, recommendation, and decision needed when escalating an issue.
  • Establish team accountability, backup coverage, and reliable follow-through.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least five years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, including AR/AP oversight.
  • Demonstrated ownership of month-end close, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Strong QuickBooks Online and Excel skills.
  • Experience managing multiple entities, locations, or districts.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, and developing accounting staff.
  • Ability to build practical procedures and put them into daily use.
  • Strong financial judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to explain financial results to non-accounting leaders.
  • Willingness to perform daily accounting work while building the structure needed to delegate effectively.

Preferred: CPA or CMA; experience with iM3, job costing, oilfield services, inspection, or another operational service business.

What success looks like

  • Leadership receives timely, finalized financial reports with clear explanations and recommendations.
  • Cash needs are visible, forecasts are maintained, and risks are raised early.
  • AP and AR processes are documented, controlled, and consistently followed.
  • Accounting staff understand their responsibilities and receive meaningful coaching.
  • District Managers understand their financial results and follow through on agreed actions.
  • Finance resolves issues proactively and completes commitments without repeated reminders.
