This is an opportunity to join at a foundational moment and own the accounting function end-to-end.We are looking for a hands-on Controller to own all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. You will be the company's primary accounting authority—responsible for producing accurate GAAP financials, managing the monthly close, leading the annual audit, and ensuring we are well-positioned from a tax and regulatory standpoint.

This role reports directly to the Head of Finance and works closely with the Director of FP&A.This is a player-coach role. You are comfortable being the person who does the work today, with the ability to build and manage a small team as we scale.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & GAAP ComplianceOwn the preparation of accurate, timely GAAP financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement)Ensure proper accounting treatment for loan originations, interest income, deferred fees, credit losses (CECL), and warehouse facility borrowingsMaintain and enforce accounting policies in accordance with US GAAPCoordinate with the FP&A team to align management reporting with GAAP financialsMonthly Financial CloseManage and execute the full monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysisDrive continuous improvement of close timelines and accuracyMaintain a close calendar and ensure all deadlines are consistently metAudit ManagementServe as the primary point of contact for external auditorsLead annual audit preparation, including PBC schedules, workpaper documentation, and auditor communicationsEnsure the company is audit-ready at all times, not just at year-endTaxManage federal, state, and local tax compliance, including preparation and filing coordination with external tax advisorsOversee sales tax and any applicable excise or regulatory tax obligationsSupport tax planning and structuring as the business scalesInternal Controls & ComplianceDesign and maintain a strong internal controls environmentEnsure compliance with lender reporting requirements and debt covenant calculationsSupport any regulatory or licensing requirements related to the lending businessSystems & ProcessOwn the accounting tech stack (GL, expense management) and drive adoption of scalable toolsPartner with engineering and operations to ensure proper revenue and transaction data flows into the GLBuild and document accounting processes and policies as the company growsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accountingExperience in fintech, specialty finance, lending, or financial services—familiarity with loan accounting (ASC 310, CECL/ASC 326) is strongly preferredProven experience managing a full monthly close and leading an external auditSolid understanding of US GAAP, including revenue recognition, debt accounting, and lease accountingExperience with tax compliance coordination (federal, state, local)Hands-on with accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar); comfortable working in a lean, build-it-yourself environmentHigh attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlineStrong communicator—able to present financial results clearly to non-finance stakeholders and the boardWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation and equity packageComprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision)Collaborative office culture with a strong product mindsetOpportunities to grow, lead, and shape the future of consumer finance401k programSalary range: $150,000 – $180,000, commensurate with experienceWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
