Financial Analyst

Accounting Position

Performs moderately complex accounting work. Work involves preparing, posting and balancing financial statements, records, documents or reports. May specialize in some phase of accounting work such as grant fund accounting, property and equipment control. Example of work performed:

• Prepares financial records and controls and operating reports.
• Prepares trial balances, substantive financial statements, special exhibits, or schedules.
• Prepares payment, cash, general journal, and related vouchers.
• Checks accounting operations in progress, reviewing and auditing completed financial records for accuracy and conformance with legal and departmental procedures and regulations.
• Prepares bank reconciliations.
• Research reconciliation discrepancies and reports findings.
• Keeps abreast of legislative changes which affect the management of funds.
• May be responsible for receiving, depositing, allocating and auditing federal funds or special state funds or appropriations.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Experience: Experience in accounting and financial operations required. Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting or related field is generally preferred. Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.
• Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory to transactions.
• Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
• Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• To work accurately with numerical detail, and to analyze, consolidate and interpret accounting data.
• Ability to learn about and implement trauma-informed care practices within the scope of work for the position.
• Must have excellent time management/organizational skills.
• Must have and maintain a level of general health that permits the performance of the job duties and ability to maintain regular attendance as set forth in Center policies and procedures.
