Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst is primarily responsible for

conducting financial analyses, preparing written reports, and providing verbal

reports on such financial analyses to the Board of Directors of the following:

• City of Buffalo budgets and financial plans

• City of Buffalo quarterly reports

• City of Buffalo annual capital plan

• Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency budgets and financial plans

• Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency quarterly report

• State legislation with a fiscal impact on the City

• Contracts, including labor contracts, proposed by the City and BURA

• Other fiscal and policy analysis as requested by the Executive Director or

Board

• of Directors

The Financial Analyst performs a variety of other duties, as necessary, which

include the preparation of written reports and/or verbal reports as required by

New York State laws, rules, and regulations including but not limited to: the

Authority’s annual report, the performance of internal control reviews and

reporting to the Audit, Finance and Budget Committee, and the monitoring of

federal and state grants. The Financial Analyst will assist in the preparation of

resolutions for Board review and adoption. The Financial Analyst will attend

Common Council sessions and Common Council committee meetings.

Key functions include researching and analyzing municipal trends locally and

nationally, analyzing and reporting on various data sets, evaluating municipal

financial management processes, reviewing and making recommendations for

labor contracts, and presenting information both orally and in written reports.
