We are working with a growing international business within the engineering and manufacturing sector to appoint a Finance Leader for its US operations.

This is a newly created position offering an experienced finance professional the opportunity to take on a broad and highly visible role within a growing business.

Working closely with local leadership and the wider finance team, the successful candidate will take responsibility for day-to-day financial control while playing an increasingly important role in commercial and operational decision-making.

Operating within a technically complex, project and product-based environment, the position combines core accounting and financial control responsibilities with exposure to commercial finance, costing, pricing and business partnering.

A key part of the role will be working closely with engineering, manufacturing and commercial colleagues to improve the financial understanding of customer projects and products - from initial quotation and costing through to delivery and final profitability.

This would particularly suit someone who has developed a strong foundation in manufacturing or project accounting and is now looking for an opportunity to broaden their remit, work more closely with operational leadership and take greater ownership of a finance function.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day financial management and control of the US operation.
• Managing core accounting activities, including month-end reporting, balance sheet control and financial analysis.
• Supporting the preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
• Working with engineering, manufacturing and commercial teams to develop accurate product and project costs.
• Providing financial analysis to support customer quotations, including materials, labour, engineering effort and manufacturing overhead.
• Supporting pricing and margin analysis and helping ensure commercial decisions are based on a clear understanding of cost and profitability.
• Tracking actual product and project performance against original estimates and identifying key variances.
• Providing financial input into customer contracts and other commercial decisions.
• Producing management information, KPIs and analysis to support business decision-making.
• Helping strengthen financial processes, controls and reporting as the business continues to develop.
• Supporting relevant financial, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Acting as a hands-on finance partner to colleagues across the business.

About you

We are interested in speaking with finance professionals who have developed their careers within engineering, manufacturing or another project/product-based environment.

You may already be operating as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager or experienced Cost/Management Accountant and be looking for an opportunity to take on greater responsibility and broaden your commercial exposure.

You will ideally bring:

• A strong grounding in financial and/or management accounting within a manufacturing, engineering or technically complex environment.
• Experience of product, project or job costing, including an understanding of materials, labour and overhead allocation.
• An ability to analyse financial performance and understand the drivers of cost, margin and profitability.
• Experience working directly with operational, engineering or manufacturing colleagues.
• Exposure to quotations, pricing, contracts or commercial finance would be advantageous, but is not essential where there is a strong underlying manufacturing finance background.
• A practical, hands-on approach and an interest in working within a smaller business where the finance role is broad and highly visible.
• The confidence and ambition to develop into a wider finance leadership position as the organisation grows.

The position will be based in Tucson, Arizona, with an expectation that the successful candidate will be visible and embedded within the operation.
