Finance Director

The Finance Director oversees the City’s Finance Department and municipal financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, cash and investments, debt, payroll, utility collections, risk management, and financial planning. The position provides financial guidance to the City Manager, City Council, and boards and commissions as needed.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

• Manage municipal financial operations and develop and monitor operating and capital budgets.
• Analyze financial data, trends, forecasts, and budget variances.
• Apply governmental accounting principles and maintain accurate records and effective internal controls.
• Prepare and interpret financial reports and manage cash, investments, debt, and long-term obligations.
• Coordinate financial audits and apply relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
• Use accounting, ERP, Microsoft Office, and Excel software effectively.
• Communicate complex financial information clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.
• Exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
• Lead, supervise, coach, and develop employees.
• Build effective relationships with employees, elected officials, auditors, financial professionals, government agencies, and the public.
• Prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands in a complex governmental environment.
