About the Role
Care in Action is seeking an experienced Finance Consultant to provide strategic and operational financial management support across Care in Action (CiA), NDWA Labs, and affiliated entities. The consultant will partner closely with organizational leadership, the Development team, Legal/Compliance, external auditors, and the Board to strengthen financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, cash management, and overall financial operations.
This is a hands-on consulting engagement suited to a senior nonprofit finance professional who can work independently, manage multiple entities and priorities, and translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for organizational leaders and Board members.

Key Responsibilities
Budget Management & Financial Reporting
- Provide strategic and hands-on support throughout the annual budgeting process, including development of program budgets, income projections, and funding deliverables.
- Prepare and deliver timely financial reporting packages for Care in Action and NDWA Labs, including budget-to-actual reports, revenue projections, cash flow information, and other management reports.
- Support a consistent monthly close process, with the goal of closing accounts by the 15th of each month and completing financial reporting by the 20th.
- Review and ensure accurate coding of revenue and expenses across programs, departments, and entities.
